888Poker Drops Brand Ambassador Suarez after World Cup Bite

888Poker.com is reassessing its relationship with Luis Suarez after the footballer allegedly bit Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini on the shoulder during the Uruguay-Italy match on June 24th.

While FIFA is still investigating the incident, 888 has firmly decided to withdraw Suarez from its campaigns. Suarez plays for Liverpool and has only been brand ambassador for 888Poker for one month. When Suarez was appointed as brand ambassador for 888Poker, he was facing a six-month ban for biting an opponent, in a separate incident. 888Poker has firmly stated their position and stressed that they do not condone dishonorable behavior, hence their decision to sever ties with Suarez.

Luis Suarez apologized for the incident on Twitter

“Following the allegations made against Luis Suarez in regards to his behavior during Uruguay’s World Cup match against Italy, 888poker is seriously reviewing its relationship with the player as we will not tolerate any unsporting behavior,” 888poker said in a statement on Wednesday.

This is the second time that Suarez has attacked a fellow player on the soccer pitch. FIFA is still investigating this latest incident and will likely announce a decision soon. The football star took to Twitter to express his regret at biting Chiellini. The match on June 24th has seriously harmed Suarez’s reputation and he is at risk of being dropped by other sponsors.
