Online casino games operator 888 Holdings, of 888 online casinos, announced on Monday that, following the legalization of online gambling in New Jersey, it has signed a joint venture with the US government in preparation for further internet gambling legislation soon to crop up throughout the states.
New Jersey was the third state to legalize online gambling, after Delawate and Nevada. The bill will, among other things, permit land-based casinos in the state (most interestingly in casino capital and state cash cow Atlantic City) to apply for licenses to offer online casino and poker games.
The deal with the state will effectively allow 888 to for the first time ever erect casinos on U.S. soil.
888 is an already-established gambling presence, with stakes in big casino names such as Caesars, MGM, Boyd Gaming and slot machines manufacturer WMS.
